Skin-to-skin contact right after delivery helps in not only strengthening the bond between mother and baby but also encourages breastfeeding.

Vitals are Vital For A Reason

The doctor ensures the safety and health of a new mama, while the experts conduct an APGAR (Appearance, Pulse rate, grimace, activity and respiratory effort) assessment to make sure the baby's vitals are stable too. Depending on your birth delivery option immediate postdelivery care will be provided to the mother, to control the bleeding or any tears.

Check-ups, appointments and smiles

Regular check-ins with your doctor are a must for monitoring your healing process. Your OB/GYN can also provide emotional support and suggest ways to manage the transition to motherhood. If you underwent a C-section, inquire about the removal of any staples or sutures and the necessary care required.

Best to take a test

Eat a nutritious diet

Quality nutritional food choices, proper caloric intake, and staying hydrated, can improve the quality and quantity of milk production and helps in a speedy recovery. Consult a nutritionist for a customized diet plan.

Follow proper wound care

Icing, warm baths, heating pads and OTC's can soothe a torn perineum. Ask your doctor for a proper care routine for your C-section scar. But hey, remember to clean the scar every day with water and soap. And if you have sore breasts, treat yourself to some ice.

Breathe, move and repeat

Exercise post delivery is tricky. Consult your doctor when you can start, depending on your childbirth delivery option. In the mean while, start moving by doing small walks and focus on kegel exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles.

Connect with other new moms

Consider joining a support group or trying out postpartum therapy. Speaking with others who understand your experiences can be incredibly beneficial. If this isn't your cup of tea, remember you've got a whole cheerleading squad rooting for you - from your friends to family to neighbors or anyone invested in this process with you.

Skincare routine to keep that pregnancy glow

Based on symptoms tailor your skincare routine to meet specific needs. To combat belly stretch marks, consider using anti-stretch mark creams. Additonally, minimize sun exposure, stay hydrated and keep to your postpartum diet. Seeking guidance from a dermatologist is always an option.
